Last Wednesday, we got Mr. Hennig, CEO of
ILLIES co., on our lecture. ILLIES is a world-wide trade company dealing with a
large range of goods such as textile, pressure die, vacuum and so on. They've
been very successful in their business for more than 150 years of the company's
history. ILLIES Korea was established in 1958. They've got 55th anniversary
this year. Mr. Hennig in our class gave us a speech about the first step into
the society. As he said, young people insist to apply for only some big companies,
ignoring small and middle ones. He reminded us of our prejudice. He also
mentioned 'Hidden Champions'. ILLIES is one of them as well. "It's a good
start as well that someone makes his career in these kinds of foreign
companies, because the person can learn life balancing, which is rarely given
in Korea." he said. In addition, machine industry is called 'promising
industry' because it can never disappear and it's the foundation of every other
technological industry. We newly learned what we've unaware of. And it was a
great time for us to look into our recognition and thought about life and work.
I appreciate he enlightened us in a proper way.
Mrs. Kang Min-Kyeong, who is a former student of our department, explained to the students about her job at Illies-Korea.
